The Åland Islands are a true paradise for kayaking and Sandösund in Vårdö has for a while been the best place to go to for that. With a protected bay as your base you can paddle among the many islands of Vårdö, to the Bomarsund fortress ruins, to the Kastelholm castle, or to Kumlinge, Seglinge, Föglö or Sottunga. Or why not set out for one of the many uninhabited islands to enjoy the peace and quiet?
This package includes your ferry to Åland, a cosy sleeping cabin in Sandösund, as well as top of the line kayaks. For your comfort bed linens are included, as well as breakfast every morning. You can also enjoy the floating sauna on the resort. July and august are considered the best time for kayaking in Åland, but spring and autumn also offers great views.
Prices are calculated for a minimum of 2 participants.
Clean sheets and fresh towels are provided at every accommodation, so you don't have to bring this.
Breakfast is included in all accommodations.
Your package includes return trip ferry tickets for all participants. You can also bring your car or other vehicle for an extra fee. Departure is available from these ports:
Aboard the ferry you can have nice meals in the restaurants or buffets, and do some duty free shopping. In Mariehamn you can visit the Maritime Museum and the impressive tall ship Pommern.
If you bring a car you drive north through Mariehamn and continue on the road through the Åland countryside until you reach the cable ferry taking you to Vårdö. During the drive you will pass the Kastelholm castle and the Bomarsund fortress ruings. You can also arrive by ferry in Eckerö instead of Mariehamn and drive to Vårdö.
If you arrive without a vehicle, there is a bus from Mariehamn to Vårdö.
You will stay 2-3 (depending on size of your group) people in a cosy little sleeping cabin with a sea view. The cabins have 4 bunk beds and are close by the beach. Upgrades to larger cabins or apartments are available.
In the area, there is a large and a small floating sauna. Your package includes one hour reserved in the large sauna. In the resort there are also other leisures, such as miniature golf, an adventure park and a restaurant.
Breakfast is included every morning. Bed linen and towels are also included.
At your disposal will be family kayaks for two persons or single kayaks for one person. The family kayaks are of the model Yoo-A-Kim, manufactured by Vitudden in Sweden. It is the only kayak model that has been tested and approved by the Awedish Maritime Administration. The single kayaks are also manufactured by Vitudden and are of the model Seabird Expidition. All kayks have rudders for steering and are very comfortable.
